Requirements

The competition is open to every musician from all over the world in the classical categories of All Instruments, Conducting, Composition, Voice & Chamber Music. There is no age limit.

Applying is straightforward: complete the application form and include a link to your video. If your video isn't ready yet, or if you prefer to email the video file, you can submit your application first and follow up with the video via email at -   satiecompetition@gmail.com@gmail.com

  • What style of music is required for this competition?
    For performers, age and instrument categories are open to all styles; period categories are only open to the relevant works (baroque, romantic, modern etc.) For composers, any style of composition will be accepted.
  • Do I need to show my hand in the video?
    For instrumentalists, the hands and face of the performer must be visible in the video For singers, the face of the performer must be visible. This requirement does not apply to composers.
  • How should the video be presented?
    For Composers, Submissions in the form of mp4 videos, audio files (mp3), and computer software-generated soundtracks are acceptable. You can choose to submit the audition form with a YouTube video or send us your mp3 file directly.
  • Is it necessary to upload the score?
    Submitting the score is optional.
  • Can I use the same piece/video for multiple categories?
    Yes, as long as the chosen piece meets the requirements of the categories.
  • Can I play more instruments in one video?
    You can only play one musical instrument for each application. An additional musical instrument will need to be submitted as another application.
  • What if my video is longer than the requested limit?
    If you submit a video that is longer than the requested time limit (eg. 15 minutes), judges will only select the first 15 minutes to watch.
  • What should I enter for the full name and birthday in the chamber music category?
    The name you provide on the form will be displayed on the certification. You can either fill in: the group name the members' names the group name followed by the members' names For the date of birth, please enter the average age of the members (an approximate date is fine).
  • Why have I not received a confirmation email after completing the payment?
    The confirmation email may have been directed to your spam folder. You could check your spam or junk mail folder to locate it.
  • What are the key qualities and evaluation criteria that are valued in contestants?
    1. Technique/Character/Rhythm/Maturity (Any of these applicable aspects): Depending on the candidate's specific major or instrument, evaluate the relevant aspects of the candidate's technique, maturity, musical character, and control of tempo and rhythm in their submissions. 2. Musicianship/Expressiveness/Presentation/Creativity (Any of these applicable aspects): Depending on the candidate's area of specialty, evaluate the relevant aspects of the candidate's musical interpretation skills, expressiveness, ability to engage and captivate the audience, and the creativity in their submissions.
